Kellen and I met 10 years ago. My family had planned a trip up to Utah for the summer after my Sophomore year of high school. We were going to visit a bunch of extended family we hadn't seen in a long time! My only set of cousins on my dad's side lived up in Springville.
My cousin just older than me, Eric, had just graduated. Kellen lived down the street from him, they were best friends.
I spent a lot of that trip tagging along with them, thinking they were the coolest things that walked the earth. Haha.
On my last day there, Kellen gave me this really cute note card with his name, phone number and address on it. Too cute! We casually kept in contact for the next year until he went on an LDS Mission to Tacoma, Washington.
Eventually, I ended up back in Utah where we had met. Conveniently, Kellen had just come home from serving his mission. The timing was perfect, almost as if I'd planned it! ;)
After I had settled into my new room in Orem, Eric invited me to hang out since I hadn't seen him since that trip also. He brought Kellen along! (I was secretly hoping if he might!) We had a fun night just hanging out. After I got home, I was thinking, that cannot be the last time I see him so I decided to just text him that it was fun to see him and we should hang out again! (He later told me, he was thinking of texting me the same thing...I beat him to it!)
A couple of days later he called and asked if I would go on a date with him. I was so excited and I even cancelled plans with another guy... oops!...so I could go out with Kellen.
He took me to Trafalga (mini-golf/arcade) then dinner at Pizza Factory. Then we drove up to a spot with an awesome view of the valley. We held hands and I was on cloud 9.
From that first date we literally spent every day together, minus the one weekend I was back in Fresno for a friend's wedding.
We were married November 20, 2007
We have spent most years of our marriage in Utah, going to school, working here and there, and enjoying being together. I went to cosmetology school. He worked hard getting his Bachelors Degree. Most of all, we had lots of good times starting our little family.
